shibori indigo WorkshopWith Oksana Danziger
Tuesday, August 13th, 2024 6:00 - 8:30 PM Conklin Barn 2 High Street, Huntington, NY $50 for Members; $55 for Non-Members Experience the magic of indigo dye firsthand in a two and a half hour workshop using freshly harvested Japanese Indigo. We will be dyeing silk scarves with nothing but fresh leaves and a sprinkle of table salt. The dye is permanent without any further processing. After dyeing, you can add some pattern using indigo pigment and stencils. Not only will you go home with your freshly dyed item, you will be able to bring home the stems of the plant to root so you can continue to dye at home after a few weeks. We will also explore leaf stamping and coloring with rolled up leaves. In addition, you will learn how the pigment is extracted from the leaves and the multitude of ways you can use the pigment. These practices have a long history worldwide as indigo bearing plants grow all over the globe. join us for a fun evening! |

Wednesday, September 11th & Wednesday, September 18th, 2024 Conklin Barn 2 High Street, Huntington, NY 11743 6:30 - 8:00 PM Do you have books that you would like to see repaired, e.g., Bibles, cookbooks, heirlooms? Do you want to make a box for a precious volume, documents, or mementos, etc? Then this course is for you. Bring the books in need of attention. You will be shown how they can be repaired. Trained in Paris, a book binder and restorer for 35 years, Paul Belard taught book restoration at CW Post Adult Education for several years. More recently - from 2015 to the arrival of Covid - he mentored at the Norwood Avenue Elementary School in Northport, where a group of young book enthusiasts had created their own club, The Book Doctors. |

An Evening Under the Stars: REimagined!

6 PM - 9 PM Kissam Property 434 Park Avenue, Huntington, NY 11743 Our fall event has been our largest fundraiser and a major source of vital revenue for almost 30 years. This year we will be hosting a cocktail party with hors d’oeuvres catered by Culinary Studio and additional fare provided by two food trucks: Marciano's Pizza and Cochinita Porky. We will be serving fabulous wines and beer from local breweries! Participants will enjoy live music performed by the Bogs. |
