Nostrand, archivist, and Bruce Abrams, assistant archivists in the Archives
of the County Clerk and Clerk of the Supreme Court of New York County, will
be speaking about the records available for family history and genealogy
research in the New York County Clerk’s Office at 31 Chambers Street in New
York City. The records include naturalization, census, various courts,
business records, divorce, name changes and more. Open and free to the

music, dancing and entertainment at the Platzl Brauhaus, a family owned
business situated between two peaks of the Ramapo Mountains in up-state New

will be speaking about the origins of the October Fest. Lunch and dinner,

Historical Society. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration
(NARA) is a treasure trove of information waiting to be discovered by
genealogists. Identify not so well known records in NARA and how to
maneuver your way through their facilities in person or over the internet.

Special Lecture:
"Ghosts of Long Island, Stories of the Paranormal", 7:30 to 9:00 pm,
Local author, photographer and historian,
Kerriann Flanagan Brosky, has been working with Paranormal Investigator,
Joe Giaquinto, on assignment researching and investigating haunted places
throughout Long Island. Ms. Brosky is the author of two books on
Huntington’s history, and now she is branching out to include many untold
tales in both Nassau and Suffolk counties. Thirty ghost stories,
accompanied by photographs, will appear in the book, with a forward
written by Joe Giaquinto. Stories will include live interviews, legends,
myths, murders and some never before told tales of the unexplainable.
Free for members. $10 for non-members. Reservations required.
Appropriate for ages 12 and up.

Huntington Historical Society’s Genealogy Workshop series presents a lecture
by Jordan Auslander, a professional genealogist who specializes in family
and heir research, about tracing family roots through the research of New
York City voter registrations. Topics will include what records are
available by borough, how and what information can be obtained, and how to

Holiday
Historic House Tour. Reservations are required. "Holidays with the
Conklins and Friends," the 2006 Holiday Historic House tour of historic houses
will feature 18th and 19th century Huntington Village houses. Most of the
houses were owned by members of the Conklin family.
Tickets for the
tour are $30. The price of the ticket includes one raffle ticket for
dinner for two at Abel Conklins Restaurant in Huntington. There is great
excitement about the Holiday Historic House tour. All the houses are
wonderful examples of their era. Don't miss this unique opportunity!

New Exhibit opens: Trains, Dolls and other Toys |

"Huntington's Olde Tyme Fun"
Family Holiday Event:
with music by Sampawams Creek, crafts, refreshments and a tour of the exhibit
(Trains, Dolls and other Toys) and
the 1750 Conklin House. Also a Puppet
Show: "The Princess, the Frog and the Pea"
(reservations only) in the Conklin barn. Activities start at
12:00 pm and end at 4:00. The puppet show begins at 2:00 and lasts 45
minutes.
All activities are $5 per family except the puppet show which is $5 per person and
