Tour of the Old Burial Ground

Imagine, kids and adults, literally walking back in time.  We strolled through Huntington's Old Burial Ground  and learned a bit about it's history, folk art and the intriguing stories connected with this historic site.  We discovered  the tale of Fort Golgotha and the stories behind various stones and epitaphs

The tour ended with a visit to the "Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building.  This iconic building, just outside the Burial Ground, was built in 1892 as a memorial to the  40 Huntingtronians who died in the Civil War.  It now contains an exhibit of Huntington Civil War memorabilia from from the Huntington Historical Society's extensive collections.  This exhibit opened on April 12th, exactly 150 years from the start of the War.
